Performance Anxiety
Performance anxiety, or stage fright, is perhaps more common among professional musicians than you might think. We’re here to help! We offer sessions given by a licensed music therapist that will teach you the skills you need to manage performance anxiety. The program is offered at no charge – donations are always welcome to help us cover the cost.
How it works: Classes are typically held for one hour, once per month, for around 4-6 months. Once enough people have signed up to form a new group (typically of around 4-6 people), you’ll be contacted to find out a time that works for you – we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule. You will be expected to attend all the sessions unless absolutely unavoidable (e.g. please don’t come if you’re sick.)
Who can sign up?
- Anyone that is taking music lessons with us or anywhere else.
- Anyone that is already performing or recording music.
- Anyone that wants to start performing or recording music.
How much does it cost? We believe that music should be available to everyone. As such, we do not charge for these lessons but offer them on a voluntary, anonymous donation basis. Suggested donation for those that can manage is $6-8 per student per session. This applies even if you miss a session, since we still have to pay for your spot. If you cannot afford that amount, it’s ok, we are still very happy to have you as a student. We encourage you to just donate what you can, even if it’s just a couple of coins. Or you can volunteer a couple of hours of your time – just let us know if you’d like to help out. There is a donation box available at the lesson location for cash or check donations, or you can donate online. Note that all donations are tax-deductible.
Expectations

You will only get the benefit of this course if you attend all the sessions, so please make a commitment to do your very best.
