Christmas Concert - orchestra and choir members needed!
We are holding a fun Christmas concert on Saturday December 21st, 2:00-3:30pm, at the Library in New Albany (180 W. Spring St.). Admission will be free of charge.
We are looking for orchestra players and choir members for the event.
What will we be performing?
Possible pieces/songs are:
- A carol singalong for the audience
- Fantasia on Christmas Carols (Vaughan Williams)
- Hallelujah Chorus (from Messiah)
- Carol of the Bells
- Gloria (Vivaldi)
- The Lord is my Shepherd (Rutter)
- Sleigh Ride
- Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
- Winter Canon
How good do I have to be?
- Most of the pieces will be fairly easy. We might tackle one or two more challenging ones, depending on who signs up. For example, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols would probably be the hardest piece we tackle. View parts for this piece here. Please note that in contrast to the regular Community Music Alliance Orchestra, simplified parts will not be available.
- For choir members, we recommend that you be able to read music, since we won’t have much time to teach parts note-for-note.
We are planning four rehearsals on the four Saturdays prior to the concert. Rehearsal dates will probably be November 23rd and 30th, and December 7th and 14th, probably in the afternoons (same time as the concert will be).
We ask that everyone wishing to take part attend at least three of the four rehearsals.
We’ll also have a run-through on the day of the concert, at the Library, probably at 1pm.
